Collins Tuohy: Collins Tuohy Talks to Students

If this year’s surprise movie was “The Fighter” than last year’s surprise was “The Blind Side.” The movie was based on the life of Baltimore Ravens’ offensive lineman Michael Oher, who never really had a home until he was picked up off the streets by the Tuohy family.

Now the Tuohy’s daughter, Collins Tuohy, frequently speaks to students about her brother and how the Tuohy’s life changed after adding another member to their family.

Collins and Oher attended Ole Miss together, where he played football and she was a cheerleader.

Not only was their family featured on the big screen, the movie was inspired by the book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game” that also told the story of Oher’s life. The book however, also talked about how the game changed with bigger, faster linebackers like the Giants’ Lawrence Taylor, as well as the creation of the “West Coast offense.”

“The most important thing that I want people to take away from my message, and I always try to include every time I speak – it’s a little bit about the power of one,” the young Tuohy told 10 News in Florida. “One person can’t necessarily change the world, but you can definitely change the world for one person.”
