Cherry Blossom Festival 2011 Kicks Off

In the wake of the tragedy in Japan the folks in Washington D.C. are looking to help out.

Saturday begins the Cherry Blossom Festival in our nation’s capital, and those in attendance can donate through the Red Cross.

Washington D.C. is already one of the most breathtaking cities in the country, with the Washington monument, the White house, the Lincoln Memorial and a number of other historic buildings across the city. And the festival just adds to it, with pink and white blossoms sprouting up around the city.

Organizers of the festival and the Red Cross teamed up to raise funds for Japan. On Thursday there was a candlelight vigil to remember those lost in the disaster.

And of course for those who can’t make it to Washington D.C. you can donate online through the Red Cross website.
