Beyonce cut ties with her manager–Matthew Knowles–who is also her father.
He managed Beyonce in the early days of Destiny’s Child. Knowles managed Beyonce for nearly two decades after.
Beyonce has 16 Grammy awards, which makes her the third most honored woman in Grammy history. She has been nominated 42 times, which is only behind Dolly Parton.
Music wasn’t the only area Beyonce exploited her talents in. She starred in such films as Austin Powers in Goldmember, Dreamgirls and Obsessed.
The decision to part ways was mutual and amicable. “I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyonce said in a statement. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”
In 2003, Matthew Knowles started Music World Music, a record label that is a division of Columbia Records. All three members of Destiny’s Child and other artists were on the record label.
He also had an affair with Alexandra Wright. She gave birth to Nixon, which paternity test proved to be the child of Knowles. Tina Knowles filed for divorce from her husband for almost 20 years.
