It was a chance for Chad Ochocinco to shine at the other football yesterday. He played in a practice game with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer.
Unfortunately for him, he might have to stay at wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The six-time Pro Bowler will meet with Coach Peter Vermes today on the future for Ochocinco.
Ochocinco told the Associated Press he enjoyed it. “It’s been a dream come true for me to be on the pitch, man, with so many of these guys who are elite athletes at the top of their game,” Ochocinco said.
He also told AP that he wouldn’t mind being a practice player. It would keep him in shape as the NFL lockout is possibly heading toward litigation.
Vermes knew from the beginning it was a fare fetch for Ochocinco to make the roster. “It still remains to be the same thing,” Vermes told AP.
The ten-year veteran of the NFL said it was a “dream” of his and he’s “satisfied.” Though Ochocinco was fast on the field, he didn’t have the experience of the other players.
“I’ve been away from the game since I was a little kid,” he told AP. “I’m just having fun. The skill set is not there like it should be. All I can do out here on the pitch is probably just run fast. Other than that, I just enjoyed it.”
