Probably the most memorable part of the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards was Sara Evans’ performance.

Evans took the stage Sunday night and sang, “Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain, but I brushed my teeth anyway, I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face, I got a little bit stronger.”
The audience gave the singer a standing ovation, after she performed “A Little Bit Stronger” from her latest album Stronger, released just last month.
Evans has shied away from the stage for some time now–it has been six years since the singer released new material.
Evans had dropped out of Dancing with the Stars in 2006, after filing for divorce from then-husband Craig Schelske.
Both Evans and Schelske had accused each other of infidelity. In 2007, the divorce became final.
She married radio host Jay Barker a few years later.
