The New York Knicks knew they were going to be in the playoffs, but the only question was their seeding and who they would play. Well, that question was answered last night after the Boston Celtics lost to the Washington Wizards, and the Miami Heat beat the Atlanta Hawks.

With the Knicks securing the sixth seed in the playoffs, they will face off against the Boston Celtics, who have struggled recently, and lost out on the number two seed in the Eastern Conference.

This is the first time the Knicks will compete in the playoffs since 2004. They finished below .500 that season and were swept by the Nets in the first round.

The new-look Knicks will finish with a winning record for the first time since 2001, but they face a tough challenge in the Boston Celtics. The Celtics won the first three games against the Knicks this year, with one more game left between the two rivals.

In 12 playoff matchups between the two, both teams have won six games.

As for the rest of the Eastern Conference. The Chicago Bulls clinched the top seed and will meet the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Lebron James and the Miami Heat are the second seed and will play the Philadelphia 76ers.

The fourth and fifth seed match up will be Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic against the Atlanta Hawks.

And in the Western Conference teams are still jockeying for position. It might come down to the last day for the eight teams and their seeds to be set.
