John Jarvis Knows Oyster Bay!

Jake Jarvis called about the May 19 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot. He said his son John was looking through the paper and he said, “I know that is where Andy Woodstock’s trucks are parked in East Norwich, backing up to Burt Bachrach’s that is now the East Norwich Inn.” Jake said, “It was a Citgo gas staion on that property, years ago, and to the right was a milk machine. We used to go there, when we were kids to get milk, when we ran out.”

Jack Scheich called and said, “I wanted to ID the mystery picture in the May 19 issue of the paper. It’s Woodstock’s. It’s the area on Route 106 in front of the East Norwich Inn and it looks like Mr. Woodstock is unloading some of the docks that he was building there in plain open sight, obviously illegally [alleged] again. I guess Mr. Woodstock still has no concern for the people of East Norwich and he’s going to keep doing this stuff.

“I think also in the left-hand corner of the picture is the derrick/crane that he moved into the property also in complete disregard for the zoning laws of our town,” concluded Mr. Scheich.

Billy Minicozzi identified the payloader and the small dumpster and guessed the location was the Locust Valley Lumber Yard.

Marg Buffa of Bayville said she was challenged by the photo and asked her daughter Kristen who she said got it right away. “It’s Woodstock Farms in East Norwich.” Marg said Kristen is familiar with the area: she worked for Mort Künstler, was a Park Ranger at Sagamore Hill and now is writing a novel. [Marg had called for last week’s mystery picture and correctly identified it, but it just missed the deadline. Our apologies.]

Eileen Aliani emailed the answer to the mystery picture in May 19’s Thursday OB-EP. “It is an area I call the East Norwich Blight.

“It’s the property in front of the East Norwich Inn adjacent to Rothmann’s and LaPizzetta, being used by Woodstock. It’s always an eyesore in spite of many requests by the East Norwich Civic Association and the Beautification Committee to clean it up and adhere to the Town code for the property,” she said.

Belle Santora said, “I don’t know if I am right or wrong.” [We missed putting Ms. Santora in last week’s mystery picture too and she said,] “You didn’t make me famous last week! This week it’s the Woodstock parking place up here in East Norwich.”

Belle Santora is a lot of fun!
