Just five days before they were planned to walk down the aisle, 85-year-old Playboy mogul, Hugh Hefner and his fiance, Crystal Harris called off their wedding Tuesday.
Harris, 25, took to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Wednesday to explain the situation telling Seacrest, “I called it off because I didn’t think it was the right thing for me to do.”
Despite a report from The New York Daily News that the split was due to the Playboy model’s recent fling with Dr. Phil youngest young, Jordan McGraw, Harris claims the split was mutual and that her relationship with McGraw doesn’t exist.
“No, not seeing someone else,” Harris told Seacrest. “We both agreed that it wasn’t the best idea to get married. He was just doing it for me because he thought it was what I wanted.”
The split is also raising eyebrows because Harris’s single “Club Queen” was released on iTunes that same day that the news of their split went public.
“It was mutual between Hef and I. There was no fight, we sat down and we talked about it. For a while I’ve been having second thoughts about everything. I haven’t really been at peace with myself lately. I didn’t think it was fair to him,” Harris said during the radio interview.
Despite the wedding cancellation, Harris claims that both parties are in a good place.
“I feel happy and at ease that everything will be ok. I respect him more than anything and we are still going to be really close,” Harris said in the interview. “Hef’s doing great. Hef’s lifestyle isn’t the most normal lifestyle. This isn’t the lifestyle for me, multiple girls all around, it is not the lifestyle I wanted.”
Hefner responded to the recent news on his personal Twitter account Wednesday saying, “Since we are not getting married on Saturday, I’ve scheduled a movie: “Runaway Bride.” Seems appropriate.”
Due to the quick nature of the calling off of the wedding, the July issue of Playboy magazine will still feature Harris with the cover title “Mrs. Crystal Hefner.” The issue will hit stands Friday according to US Magazine.
The couple has dated since January of 2009 and became engaged last Christmas. Harris was featured on one season of “The Girls Next Door,” along with Hefner’s two other girlfriends, Kristina and Karissa Shannon.
