Jennifer Lopez is set to cement her popularity in pop culture as she has been nominated to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to E! , Jennifer Lopez has already contacted the Walk of Fame through her publicist to express her utter excitement about receiving the honor.

Getting on the Walk of Fame is no easy feat but there are a couple “tricks” of the trade. You first must be popular, money is important, and lastly, charitable work is taken into account. No one receives a place on the Walk of Fame without a nomination first. The nomination usually comes from a publicist or a studio. In Lopez’s case, her publicist submitted her nomination on behalf of manager Benny Medina.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce controls the Walk of Fame. They charge sponsors $30,000 for a star on the famous walk. Although one person nominates the celebrity for the honor, the celebrity has five years before there star is installed to change sponsors if necessary.

Two more stars are set to given to Jennifer Aniston and Scarlett Johansson. Aniston was nominated by for the prestigious star by Universal under the Film category. Johansson is being sponsored by Disney.

In terms of the “charitable work,” required of those selected to be on the Walk of Fame, the celebrities chosen to receive a star usually have a long list of good deeds in their arsenal before they are ever considered.

Lopez has worked with the Maribel Foundation as well as the Boys and Girls Club throughout her career. Aniston also has a long list of foundations she has aided including GLAAD, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity, among others.

Although $30,000 may seem like a lot to pay for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in terms of publicity received during the induction ceremony alone it is a truly priceless asset to a celebrity’s growing fame.
