Serious Accident In Wantagh

According to detectives, on Saturday, at 5:10 p.m., Brian Haab 18, of Baldwin was operating a 1996 Ford Taurus westbound on Sunrise Highway when he swerved across the median into the eastbound lanes in Wantagh.

The Taurus was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound 2007 Dodge Suburban operated by Matthew Pephinski 55, of Lindenhurst.

Both victims were transported to Nassau University Medical Center by police ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Victim Haab was admitted in critical condition.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. There appears to be no criminality at this time.
