Take Your Pick Of Family Fun At The Children’s Museum
It’s summer and reading is an exceptional way to relax. Darlene and The Shades of Green Band will be celebrating such authors as Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein through music. Come to the museum for this music-filled celebration of reading! Ages: 5 and up. Fee: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members) $8 theater only. Visitors to the Long Island Children’s Museum can take part in a variety of creative workshops offered throughout the whole summer. Families can learn about famous artists, design their own birdhouses, explore the great outdoors, participate in a fun interactive theater workshop and so much more! Enjoy summer bonus days at LICM. The Museum is open every day between July 11 and September 4. Program and Performance Schedule – Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Remarkable Renaldo of the National Circus Project has written and illustrated a book titled Renaldo Joins the Circus. From July 18 through July 22, from 2 to 4 p.m., come join Long Island Children’s Museum Green Teens in Our Backyard as we discover new ways to explore our natural world. Each week visitors can take part in a different activity, craft or game with a nature-related theme. Learn fun ways to help the environment, enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences and try your hand at cooking, crafts and other science activities. This program is made possible by a generous grant from National Grid and is recognized as a Youth Inspired Program by the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC). Coils of Clay
At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Long Island Children’s Musuem, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, there will be pottery making – a traditional art from around the world. Learn why Native Pueblo women and men from the southwestern United States are famous for their handmade pottery. They often dig the clay and build their pots with clay coils, rather than forming them on a potter’s wheel. Make your own coil replica of this popular type of art using air-dry clay and sculpting tools. Ages: 5 and up. Fee: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members)

Spinner’s Grinners Laughter Yoga in New Hyde Park
Take time to participate in the happiest workout method! – a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits. Long Island Daylily Society to Host Sale and Clinic
The Long Island Daylily Society will present a daylily sale and clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until sold out at SUNY Farmingdale, Route 110 and Melville Road on the Great Lawn by Roosevelt Hall. All plants have been grown in members’ gardens so they are northern hardy and healthy. There will be traditional large-flowered varieties as well as miniatures, doubles and spiders. Plants of all colors including red, yellow, orange, gold, pink, purple and melon will be on the sale tables. Hundreds of plants will be available. Long Island Daylily members will be presenting a daylily clinic and workshop to answer all your questions on growing day lilies in your own garden. Members will also be present at the sales tables to offer assistance. The daylily has been called the “perfect perennial.” By careful selection of varieties, a day lily garden can provide continuous bloom throughout the summer.

The 17th Annual William F. Kelly Memorial Golf Classic
The 17th Annual William F. Kelly Memorial Golf Classic, sponsored by the Gladiator Fund, to benefit Jennver Cave, Age 18, daughter of Nancy Wilder-Cave, Class of NHP Memorial ’71, who has a neurological disability, will be held at the Eisenhower Park-Blue Course, located at Merrick and Stewart Avenue, East Meadow. Registration and Continental Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Dinner is at 2 p.m. at the New Hyde Park Inn, 214 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Cost is $170 (after Aug. 5, $185) to include 18 holes of gold, cart, breakfast, dinner and a 4-hour open bar. $75 if you only want to attend dinner, which begins at 2 p.m..
