Despite all the criticism that Rebecca Black has endured, the 14-year-old YouTube star will be releasing a new single tonight at 8 p.m. The song, “My Moment” is a follow-up to her song, “Friday,” and reveals her rise to the fame.

“I didn’t expect this. I’m still having a hard time grasping that I’m not just a kid from Anaheim Hills, that people know me,” stated Black on her website.

The song will come out on Black’s YouTube channel and her website, RebeccaBlackOnline.com, tonight at 8 p.m. and will then be put on iTunes Tuesday, reported ABC News.

Black’s rise to fame was full of criticism following her first single “Friday.” In Black’s “Good Morning America” interview, she explained how hurt she was following the release of her first single “Friday” that received a ton of criticism. She reportedly revealed the most hurtful comment from a viewer was, “I hope you cut yourself and I hope you get an eating disorder so you look pretty and I hope you go cut and die.”

But the criticism also gave Black a ton of publicity, she had 167 million YouTube views for “Friday” and got to star alongside of Katy Perry in “Last Friday Night.”

Black fights back on her official website, she says that when she receives insults, “I just laugh at it. I mean, they spend their day commenting on a 13-year old girl’s song, but at least I’m out there actually following my dreams and doing something.”

Will “My Moment” have as much of a range of opinions as “Friday” did? “My Moment”, according to OC Weekly, shows Black’s rise to fame because of her first single. The video features real footage of Rebecca Black in her junior high school, and then going to red-carpet premieres at the young age of fourteen. A statement about the video describes the new song, “It’s a fairytale story, but it happened in real life.” The song is written by Brandon “Blue” Hamilton, who has worked with Justin Bieber and Hilary Duff in the past.
