According to Nassau County Police, on July 23 at 11:29 a.m. police responded to a 911 call from 21 Shelly Ct. for an aided/attempted suicide. Upon arrival, officers were met by the homeowner at the front door and were led to the basement where they discovered Veronica Cirella, 31, lying on the floor semi conscious and her daughter, Julie Cirella, 8, lying motionless on a mattress.
A Nassau County Police Ambulance responded to the scene and transported Veronica Cirella to a local hospital. Julie Cirella was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:33 p.m. and was later removed to the Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
Veronica Cirella is being charged with Manslaughter and will be arraigned bed side. The investigation is ongoing.
