Want proof that Anne Hathaway can make the leap from a princess to a butt-kicking action star? Warner Bros. released a picture of Hathaway in her new role as Catwoman, in “The Dark Knight Rises” coming out next year.
Christopher Nolan’s films have already gained a huge following, but this might add some buzz to the money-making machine that is “Batman.”
In the official picture from the movie, Hathaway bares no resemblance to Halle Berry’s “Catwoman” as she is seen wearing a tight leather outfit with a pair of high-tech goggles, while riding the Batpod.
The image on the movie’s official website is titled “selina_kyle” leading some to wonder that this may not be Catwoman’s official costume, but just Selina Kyle, the true identity of Batman’s villain and ally.
Nolan announced Hathaway’s new role in a press release saying, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” according to deadline.com.
Last month, Warner Bros. released the official movie poster on its website showing Gotham City crumbling down to the ground; With pieces of skyscrapers falling from the sky, Batman’s famous logo can be seen above.
Continuing its attempt to tease the country until 2012, Warner Bros. released a teaser trailer for the final movie of the trilogy during “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.”
The sequel, “The Dark Knight,” poured in just over $1 billion worldwide, putting even more pressure on “The Dark Knight Rises” to perform well.
The movie is expected to hit theaters next summer. The third installment of the new Batman series will also available in IMAX.
