Hurricane Emergency Preparedness Forums
Hosted by Assemblyman Dave McDonough along with Senator Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. at 7 p.m. at the Merrick Library, 2279 Merrick Ave., Merrick, to discuss how you can prepare in the event of an emergency. The presentation will be made by the NC Office of Emergency Management. These forums will include information regarding the many precautions that can be taken to ensure that residents remain safe and who to call for assistance. Having a plan ahead of time is the key to survival. Also on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Wantagh Fire Department, 3470 Park Ave., Wantagh.

Bowling for Wishes
The LI Chapter of the Marty Lyons Foundation will host its 17th Annual Nassau County Bowling for Wishes from 7 to 10 p.m. at South Levittown Lanes, 6 Tanners Ln., Levittown. Proceeds donated to The Marty Lyons Foundation for its mission to grant children with life threatening or terminal illnesses their special wishes. Event hosted by Marty Lyons and Kenny Schroy, former New York Jets football players. Tickets $50 each. Event includes food, entertainment, bowling, trophies, prizes and T-shirts. Stroke Support Groups

Levittown Community Council
Levittown and Island Trees organizations and residents are invited to monthly meetings of the Levittown Community Council held at 7:30 p.m. at Levittown Memorial Education Center in the Panther Room on the fourth Monday except in July and August. Informational programs relevant to the community are presented and refreshments are served. Meetings are open to the general public. Membership in the council is for residents and organizations in the areas comprised by the Levittown and Island Trees school districts.
Port North Basketball
Port North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. While the team has enjoyed success winning championships in 7th and 8th grade divisions this past season the emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. We are currently looking for experienced players for next season. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. •Bingo For Kids/Families. On Tuesday evenings you can fun with your family at a special bingo designed just for kids. At Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, 1373 Bellmore Rd., N. Bellmore, you can play bingo for prizes (not cash). Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per player. An adult must accompany the children. Adult play is optional. Bring a marker or purchase one at the event. The snack bar will be open at 6 p.m. and will serve a variety of reasonably priced items.
