Famous boxing champ, Oscar De La Hoya has come clean in a recently released interview with Univision. He spoke about his drug addiction and infidelity.
The boxer first made headlines when photos of him dressed in panties and heels surfaced. Then, in May, it went viral that De La Hoya entered a rehab center to receive treatment for his addictions.
“There were drugs, my drug of choice was cocaine and alcohol. Cocaine was recent,” De La Hoya admitted in the interview.” The last two years, last two and a half years, and I depended more the alcohol than the cocaine.”
De La Hoya, who retired from boxing in 2009, said that he has been sober for three months.
De La Hoya also revealed how close he came to considering death. “Rock bottom was recently,” he said. “Within a couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don’t have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it.”
He also admitted that he was unfaithful to his wife, Millie Corretjer. “We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here, but I was unfaithful,” he admitted during the interview.
The boxer also has a daughter with Shanna Moakler. The two were engaged until she caught him escorting another woman to an awards show. Moakler slapped him with a multi-million dollar lawsuit as a result.
