Avril Lavigne’s new song “Wish You Were Here” is heating up the Internet, and her video already has more than 1 million hits on YouTube.
The Canadian-born rocker is showing another side to fans in her latest song, and maybe that’s why it has created such a buzz around the web.
“Damn, damn, damn, what I’d do to have you here, here, here, I wish you were here,” she sings in the song, where she repeatedly runs her fingers through her hair, as she cries out in pain.
The video—that has blown up on YouTube—has 1.3 million hits as of Saturday afternoon. It shows Lavigne wiping tears from here eyes as makeup drips down her cheek. The video was directed by Dave Meyers.
This is how she starts the song:
I can be tough, I can be strong, but with you, it’s not like that at all.
There’s a girl, that gives a sh**, behind this wall, you’ve just walked through it.
And I remember, all those crazy things you said, you left them running through my head, you’re always there, you’re everywhere, but right now I wish you were here.
All those crazy things we did, didn’t think about it, just went with it, you’re always there, you’re everywhere, but right now I wish you were here.
Damn, damn, damn, what I’d do to have you here, here, here, I wish you were here. Damn, damn, damn what I’d do to have you near, near, near, I wish you were here.
