All good things must come to an end. CW’s “Gossip Girl” star and face of Chanel, Blake Lively has officially split from “Great Gatsby” star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Reps for the two actors confirmed the news to US Weekly and say the two “Remain friends.”
Rumors are swirling that the reason may be Leo’s mom. Apparently when he introduced his new love to mom, she wasn’t pleased when Lively wouldn’t stop talking about herself as well as work on “Gossip Girl” and with Chanel.
The two were dating for nearly six months and were first spotted together in Monte Carlo during the Cannes Film Festival back in May while Leo was fresh off a split from model, Bar Refaeli.
Making things extra awkward, Ace Showbiz reported that Leo’s ex-girlfriend was at the festival too. She came to a red carpet event at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival solo and attended the premiere of “The Beaver.”
Lively and DiCaprio were snapped embracing on Steven Spielberg’s yacht. According to Popeater, DiCaprio greeted her with an embrace and entertained her, as well as Steven Spielberg and Lukas Haas on a boat off the coast of Cannes, France.
According to Starpulse, the pair was introduced by director Baz Luhrmann in November following Lively’s audition for the role of Daisy Buchanan in an update of “The Great Gatsby.” Lively didn’t make the cut and lost out on the role to British star Casey Mulligan.
Previously, Lively was linked to her “Gossip Girl” costar, Penn Badgley and in 2010, the two split after three years together. DiCaprio was linked to model, Bar Refaeli from November 2005 until May 2011.
According to NOLA, currently, Lively is back to work on “Gossip Girl” after a filming a feature in Los Angeles this summer while, DiCaprio remains shooting Baz Luhrman’s 3D “The Great Gatsby” in Australia.
