The Island Trees boy’s soccer team started off the season winning the Island Trees Fall Cup Classic. They began the tournament playing the Bethpage Golden Eagles Friday night. The 2011 bulldogs came out strong with a 4-0 win. Mike Gronenthal and Anthony Leonick started the season off each scoring two goals.
The shutout was due to the fine play of Nick Alavanja, Jose Carvajal, Chris Burns, Ralph Falcone and goalkeepers Andrew Barbine and Jeff Valencia. The team continued with an even more impressive performance against Plainedge on Saturday winning 5-0.
Leonick scored two more goals and Gronenthal, Mike Pascale and John Rivera each added a goal. Carvajal, Dylan Cranmer, Lucas Panebianco, Ralph Falcone and JT Famularo each had an assist. This is the second time the Bulldogs have captured the Fall Cup.
