Herricks Holds A Different Kind Of Homecoming

The Herricks Homecoming celebration was held on the girls soccer field this year and it was a fun-filled event with games, music and even a dunking station where some poor girl was dunked every time the mark was hit.

High School Athletic Director Jim Petricca ran the entire day that started out with the various classes participating in relay races including egg on a spoon, potato sack and jump rope.  All the participants had a marvelous time.

All the while there was a huge barbeque where hotdogs and hamburgers were constantly being cooked.  Another station was manned by a student who was doing the cotton candy honors; another station was popping corn.  There was a “face painting” station and a huge inflatable that the younger kids were having so much fun sliding on.

Over in a corner was a ‘rap singer’ and a “cool” band with Evan Miller, Louis Niolis, Perry Stein and Jei Woo.

Even through it was a departure from the traditional homecoming, it worked and the bottom line is that the kids had a fun time and they were all geared up for the game at Tully Field, “under the lights.”
