Rick Santorum’s Daughter Hospitalized

Rick Santorum left Florida and the presidential campaign trail to be with his daughter who was hospitalized this weekend.

“Rick and his wife Karen are admitting their daughter Bella to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this evening,” Santorum’s spokesman Hogan Gidley said in a statement Saturday.

The 3-year-old named Isabella has a rare life-threatening genetic disorder called Trisomy 18 and was admitted to a Philadelphia hospital Saturday, reported People.

Santorum will miss Sunday’s events in Punta Gorda and Sarasota, Florida.

“Due to the heath of his youngest daughter Bella, Rick Santorum will remain with his family today,” read the latest Facebook post to appear on Santorum’s Facebook page.

Santorum will have stand ins. The campaign will reportedly resume the with Elizabeth Santorum, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 5 oldest children – Joshua, Jana, John-David, Jill, and Jessa. The group is appearing Sunday on behalf of Santorum.

“Rick himself intends to return to Florida and resume the campaign schedule as soon as is possible,” read his Facebook page.

He will however be making a tele-meeting later this evening. At 8 p.m., Senator Santorum will hold a tele-town hall meeting with Florida Republican Voters and at 9 p.m., will hold a tele-town hall meeting with Minnesota Republican Voters.

According to Huffington Post, Isabella has Trisomy 18, a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome—Although, she’s been spending most of her time off of her dad’s campaign trail, she’s made appearances at her dad’s Iowa’s straw poll this past August and in South Carolina during its primary.
