What’s New in New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Schools

The New York State Board of Regents has adopted new Common Core Learning Standards and Assessments, and our district has been working as a collaborative team to make sure everyone understands the focus of these standards.

Our philosophy is that these standards are being implemented to help us as administrators and teachers to improve students’ learning. We are simultaneously examining our curriculum frameworks to align them to the new Common Core Standards and map the year’s progress with essential questions and progress monitoring tools.

Our staff continues to examine all the domains of the Danielson’s Frameworks for teaching as a guide to seeking additional strategies across the grades to increase student outcomes. Our staff through common planning and focused discussion on students’ strengths and weaknesses has created instructional road maps to help our students meet the heightened state and federal benchmarks. Our profession is ever evolving, and as a staff dedicated to serving the needs of our students, we continue “re-tooling” while the educational rhetoric debates continue amongst the politicians. We remain above the political fray and always continue in our profession, by keeping the students’ academic progress our number one priority!
