The heart wrenching A&E show “Intervention” is on its eleventh season and premiering new episodes Monday nights at 10:00 P.M. Appearing in this years season is Skyler who suffers from an addicted to “bath salts.”

“Invention” typically follows people with drug and/or alcohol addictions and interviews the person with the addiction and their family. At the end of the show the family and friends band together to try to get their loved one help. Sometimes the individuals choose to go to rehabilitation and sadly some of them turn their backs on their family.

Skyler is a 24-year-old young man who is described as being creative and shy. His mother, Tiffany, pushed him to be strong in sports, and hopefully famous in modeling and television as she vicariously attempted to live through her son, reports The Huffington Post.

Skyler ultimately rebelled against his dominant mother and began smoking marijuana from a young age. Years later, he is now addicted to a new synthetic stimulant drug which is being called “bath salts.”

Webmd.com describes the synthetic drug, “A new designer drug known as ‘bath salts’ has become increasingly popular and increasingly scary. Poison centers across the U.S. have reported growing numbers of calls about the synthetic stimulant, and more and more states are banning the drug. But as of now, there is no federal law prohibiting their sale. Make no mistake: These are not bath salts like those you would use in your bath.”

Zane Horowitz, MD, an emergency room physician said that the drug causes, “Agitation, paranoia, hallucinations, chest pain, suicidality. It’s a very scary stimulant that is out there.”

As a result from taking the synthetic drug, Skyler experiences delusions since “bath salts” are hallucinogenic in nature.

When he takes the drug he thinks he sees “shadow people” and “brainwashers” who threaten to hurt him.
