Typically the Oscars red carpet is more exciting than the actual lengthy show, and one actor proved that to be true.
Sacha Baron Cohen arrived at the Oscars in full dictator garb. He came in character for his upcoming funny flick, “The Dictator.”
Admiral General Aladeen walked the red carpet with two girls trailing behind him as he carried the ashes of the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.
Things got exciting as he approached E! host, Ryan Seacrest, who proceeded to interview the unpredictable dictator. Seacrest asked the dictator about the ashes, to which he explained his plans to sprinkle them over the red carpet and on Halle Berry’s chest.
Seacrest took humor in the plans, and just as he giggled, he unexpectedly replaced Berry in getting sprinkled. Cohen spilled the ashes “accidentally” over Seacrest’s tuxedo. Good sport Seacrest laughed and toweled off before turning to the camera and saying, “Anything can happen and it most certainly did.”
A video of the melee went viral and has since proved to be quite popular with over 200,000 views. It is almost as popular as a video the dictator released last week.
Last week, rumors were swirling that Cohen was turned down from appearing on the red carpet at the Oscars clad in Dictator garb. Clearly, the rumors were false.
But while the Academy Awards released a statement claiming no decision was made, Admiral General Aladeen wasn’t happy with the rumors and televised his revenge. He blasted the Oscars during a television appearance.
Admiral General Aladeen made an appearance on NBC’s Today Show to make the special announcement, “On behalf of the nation of Wadiya, I am outraged at being banned from the Oscars by the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts and Zionists.”
“While I applauded the Academy for taking away my right to free speech, I warn you that if you do not lift your sanctions and give me my tickets back by 12 p.m. on Sunday, you will face unimaginable consequences,” he said.
