Forget about Beware the Ides of March.

Beware of agitated celebrities who don’t like to smile for the camera—even small cell phone cameras—while walking around in public.

The latest celebrity to find himself in hot water because someone tried to snap a picture was…Russell Brand.

The actor was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a photographer’s defenseless cell phone and threw it through a window earlier this week, according to TMZ.

The entertainment website reported that the incident occurred Monday night when Brand caught a photographer attempting to snap pictures with a cell phone. So what did he allegedly do? Throw it through the window of an office building, according to the report.

Brand reportedly turned himself in to New Orleans police on Thursday.

The Huffington Post reported that a warrant was issued for his arrest and he was charged with criminal damage to property.

TMZ also reported that the man got his cell phone back, and Brand said he would pay for the broken window.

Apparently, Brand had good reason to allegedly snatch the phone away from its owner and toss it away.

Before his arrest, the funnyman tweeted: “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”

Interesting. We were of the understanding that cameras were added to iPhone’s so people can snap quick pictures of passing celebrities.

Brand is not the only celebrity to fend off picture takers.

In February, Chris Brown was accused of taking a girl’s cell phone and driving off with it. The woman reportedly claimed that Brown took the phone because he was annoyed that she took his picture.
