“Dark Shadows” Trailer Released (Video)

Picture 62“In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family,” reads the caption of a newly released trailer.

The first trailer for Tim Burton’s new supernatural comedy movie “Dark Shadows” has just been released.

The trailer is for the upcoming flick based on the 1960s soap opera of the same name first premiered on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” March 15 and has since hit YouTube and been spreading like wildfire across the waves of the Internet.

The movie follows Barnabas, played by Johnny Depp, who is the master of Maine’s Collinwood Manor. He seems to have the world at his fingertips until he meets witch, Angelique Bouchard, played by Eva Green.

Things go from bad to worse when she turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. Barnabas is pushing daisies until almost 200 years later in 1972, when a group of men dig him up and free him.

The over 200-year-old vampire returns to Collinwood Manor to find the Collins family, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, Roger Collins, played by Jonny Lee Miller, Carolyn Stoddard, played by Chloe Moretz; and David Collins played by Gulliver McGrath.

Of course no Tim Burton movie would be complete without Helena Carter, who plays psychiatrist Dr. Julia Hoffman.

The movie is set to hit theaters May 11.
