The comedian, Gallagher best known for smashing watermelons woke up Sunday following a heart attack last week.

Leo Gallagher suffered a heart attack last week right before his Texas show and according to Fox News has been in a medically induced coma ever since.

According to the report, doctors slowly woke him up Sunday morning. Shortly after, the 65-year-old, according to E! News, began moving and breathing on his own.

According to Fox, his promotional manager Christine Scherrer, he immediately recognized his family and started talking to them.

Scherrer says he is slowly recovering.

“We’re not sure how long the doctors will want him to stay yet,” Scherrer told E! News. “So far so good, can’t wait to have him back!”

Last week, he reportedly was about to take the stage at Hat Tricks club Wednesday in Lewisville but collapsed 20 minutes before the show was slated to start at 9 p.m. According to AP, CPR was performed on him before paramedics arrived and the comedian was rushed to a local hospital.

This marks his second heart attack, he suffered a minor heart attack during a performance in Minnesota last March.
