imagesWar is coming, tonight.

Game Of Thrones fans rejoice: the show you have been waiting for all year is set to return Sunday night at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.

“The cold winter’s rising, storms come and go the big fish eat the little fish. Sometimes the ones with the most power have the least grace,” was one haunting hint into the sophomore season of Game Of Thrones.

While the show’s second season is set to kick off tonight, with so many people at odds, fans just don’t know what exactly to expect only that there will be one massive war.

In the previous season, fans watched as King Robert was killed and his son, Joffrey took the throne. Joffrey was one of the main problems at the end of the freshman season as he was not Robert’s legitimate son and the only one who knew his secret was killed at Joffrey’s command. But that was only one of the issues in King’s Landing and this season we will watch as more issues unfold and almost every main character takes to the battlefield in an attempt to take the iron throne from the young and arrogant king.

For some, what the new season holds may not be a surprise as the 10 episode season is based on a best-selling book by George R. R. Martin and readers may already have an idea what’s to come from reading A Song of Ice and Fire.

One thing is for sure, fans will welcome back the blonde beauty, Daenerys, who will fight to win back her kingdom with the help of dragons, and meet newcomer Stannis Baratheon who will also be fighting to take the throne after his brother, King Robert, died.

“I do this day lay claim to the island throne of Westeros that all true men declare their loyalty. The iron throne is mine by right,” he said in a trailer. “They will bend the knee or I will destroy them.”

Other fan favorites including Arya Stark, Cersei, Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow will also make a return tonight.

For extra-curious fans, HBO gave a glimpse into each episode by releasing episode descriptions for Season 2.

SPOILER ALERT: The premiere episode is called The North Remembers.

“As Robb Stark and his northern army continue the war against the Lannisters, Tyrion arrives in King’s Landing to counsel Joffrey and temper the young king’s excesses. On the island of Dragonstone, Stannis Baratheon plots an invasion to claim his late brother’s throne, allying himself with the fiery Melisandre, a strange priestess of a stranger god. Across the sea, Daenerys, her three young dragons and khalasar trek through the Red Waste in search of allies, or water. In the North, Bran presides over a threadbare Winterfell, while beyond the Wall, Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch must shelter with a devious wildling,” reads  The North Remembers episode description.

Besides episode descriptions, in previous months, HBO has released enticing teasers, trailers, and photos amping up excitement for the upcoming season.

Back in September, fans got their first glimpse of the coming season when  HBO released a sneak peak during Boardwalk Empire and more recently a new trailer called The More You Love went viral. A week before that, an official Game Of Thrones Season 2 poster reading “War Is Coming” was released.
