Yes that’s right, two of the world’s most famous athletes are in the same picture: Portuguese soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo and Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal.
The two go head-to-head in a battle of speed in a new Nike commercial promoting the new Mercurial Vapor VIII soccer cleats.
“On-court, Rafael Nadal’s supremacy is almost unrivalled. But against Cristiano Ronaldo and the new Mercurial Vapor VIII, he faces a challenge like never before,” reads the video caption.
The video was reportedly shot back in February and has proved to be quite popular with over 3 million views since hitting YouTube March 29.
The video follows Nadal as he warms up on the tennis court.
“Hi how’s it going?,” asks Ronaldo as he strolls onto the court wearing bright-colored Nike cleats to which Nadal says, “I see you brought your shoes.”
The two then get into one massive battle on the court, Nadal using his racket to shoot over the tennis ball but Ronaldo taking it and firing it back over with his new Nikes.
The next round, the heat intensifies when the two then trade shoes and Ronaldo introduces a soccer ball to the mix. Nadal is able to give Ronaldo a run for his money with the Nikes on, which makes him of course want to keep them and in the end the two end with a Nike tug of war.
