A trailer for the upcoming sci-fi flick “Looper” has just gone viral and gives fans the first dose of all the action.
“Time travel has not yet been invented, but 30 years from now it will have been,” says Joe, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a killer in the new film.
Joe is seen wielding a large gun as he takes out a beheaded man.
“In the futuristic action thriller “Looper,” time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market,” reads the film’s description.
The film takes place in 2042 and follows killer Joe (Gordon-Levitt) who works for the mob and time travels to carry out assassinations.
“I am one of many specialized assassins,” Joe says. “called Loopers.”
“When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Willis) for assassination,” reads the description.
In the trailer, Joe enjoys his destructive duties and lavish parties he partakes in until he finds himself in trouble. “We live the good life,” Joe says. “The only rule is, never let your target escape. Even if your target is you.”
Joe soon finds out that he’s up for assassination and hesitates carrying out the kill resulting in himself escaping.
The action-packed film was directed by Rian Johnson and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. The film hits theaters September 28. Check out the trailer.
