On April 2, the Island Trees Boys Track team hosted their first meet in many years. They were victorious, beating the Malverne Mules, the East Rockaway Rocks and the Seaford Vikings. They were led by their winning relay teams, which included the 4×100 meter team: Anthony Leonick, Adam Kirschner, Tom Brownstone and Tyler Blauvelt; the 4×800 team: John Rivera, Adam Kirschner, Chris Mule, and Lucas Panebianco; and the 4×400 “four horsemen” team: Ryan Paolino, Brendan Beiersdorfer, Nick Alavanja, and Lucas Pugliese.
In addition, Paolino won the gold in the individual 400-meter race with an outstanding time of 52.6 seconds. Pugliese won his 800-meter race with a commanding distance of at least 50 meters. Alavanja was dominant in winning both hurdle events. Blauvelt paved the way in the field events by being victorious in the long and in the triple jumps. Joe Stanco won the shot put competition, while Stephen Schmidt was the winner with a discus throw of 123’3”. This brings the teams overall two-year meet record to 18 wins and two losses.
