“American Idol” contestant Jessica Sanchez sang “And I’m Telling You I’m Not The Only One” from Dreamgirls on Wednesday night, and she hit every note.

During rehearsal Jessica out sang Jimmy. “You’re coming back now, and it looks like you’re doing really well,” he told her.

“If the audience sees and the judges see what I saw, it could be game over,” Jimmy said.

That’s really impressive, especially coming from a competitor.

The “Idol” contestants were instructed to sing a song about California and to also sing a song that was inspiring to them, or that they wish that had written, according to host Ryan Seacrest.

The moment Sanchez began to sing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not The Only One,” she channeled Jennifer Hudson’s emotion from the movie straight into her own moving and inspirational performance. It’s a fantastic song for anyone who has ever felt under-appreciated.

It was not surprising that Jimmy told his competitor he thought she was doing well. Unfortunately for Sanchez, she has two other strong competitors in Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet, so Sanchez doesn’t have the contest in the bag just yet.

Ledet got a standing ovation for his performance. But the judges made sure the stand up for Sanchez when she had finished singing.

“Another winning performance,” said Steven Tyler. “Just over the top.”

Jennifer Lopez added that Sanchez has a rare voice that is not easy to find every day. Randy Jackson referred to the 16-year-old as a phenomenon and told Sanchez she is definitely “in it to really win it.”

One day after her performance, the YouTube video already had over 80,000 views.

The only problem for her is what the judges had to say about Ledet’s performance.

“Neither man nor woman has ever sang that good or with that much compassion on this show, ever,” Tyler said. “I can go home right now. I never heard anything like that in my life.”
