A gameplay trailer of Assassin’s Creed III was released this week, giving gamers a deeper glimpse into the highly-anticipated new game.
It is the fifth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the third numbered title, which takes place in 18th century North America during the American Revolution, where after more than 20 years of conflict the 13 American colonies and the British Crown are at war.
According to ComputerAndVideoGames.com, the modern portion of AC3 will take place in upstate New York and will feature new assassin Connor, of half-English, half-Mohawk blood who is fighting against white colonists that have reportedly attacked his village.
The trailer dives into action with Connor as he carries out his assassinations. “In the name of liberty I will fight the enemy, regardless of their allegiance,” Connor says in the trailer. “The future of our land, depends on those who are truly free.”
“Assassin’s Creed III is the opening chapter of two new stories: one of Connor, the newest Assassin, and one of a new nation, both in an epic fight for land and freedom,” reads the YouTube video caption. “In this gameplay world premiere, travel through the early American city of Boston, battle man and beast alike as you explore the vast open frontier, and witness to the intensity and excitement of the Battle of Bunker Hill — one of the most famous battles of all time.”
The trailer follows a teaser released back in March.
“The time is now, near at hand, which must determine whether Americans must be free men or slaves,” said George Washington’s character. “Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance or the most abject sufficient.”
“We have therefore, to resolve, to conquer or to die,” he screams on the battlefield.
The game is set to be released in October 2012. Check it out.
