NFL player Donald Driver accomplished exactly what he set out to do, win the mirror ball trophy on “Dancing With The Stars”!
Most people were thinking that the final two was going to come down to William Levy and Katherine Jenkins, but Driver surprised everyone — including himself.
The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver knew he had to pull out something special for his final dance, the freestyle. The Super Bowl champion who hails from Texas wore gold and green — his team’s colors — put on his cowboy hat and went country. Everyone, including the judges, went wild for his performance.
On the Tuesday finale Donald preformed an encore of his country-style dance, making everyone in the audience and at home smile.
Donald’s smile and charisma is one of the reasons he was able to become a DWTS champion. He was able to light up the room with his performances. Not to mention, his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, was pretty amazing too.
“He ripped that trophy right out of their hands,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said told Seattlepi.com, right after Peta and Donald won. “I think he wanted to win Dancing and he was not gonna let anything else be the outcome. That was the story of triumph.”
“Now I know what JR [Martinez] felt last year, what Hines [Ward] felt, what Emmitt [Smith]felt,” Driver was quoted as saying after the big win.
The 37-year-old football player believes dancing will help with his skills on the field.
“Peta has made me more flexible,” he said. “I’m able to do things that I wasn’t able to do two, three years ago – from the jumping ability, to just being able to stretch. You get so comfortable that you don’t those things anymore, and you don’t try things once you get older. But I feel like I’m a twentysomething now, going back to play football. I feel good.”
