Katy Perry dropped a new video from her “Teenage Dream” album. The video was for her single “Wide Awake” and was released this week.
“NOW! #WideAwake in all its beauty on VEVO! This has been an incredible run, THANK YOU!” Perry wrote on her Facebook page when she posted the new video.
“What did you think of ‘Teenage Dream’s final chapter? Watch Katy take on a labyrinth, poison fruit, paparazzi, evil prince and more in the new music video for #WideAwake!”
The video was the final chapter of “Teenage Dream,” Perry’s third studio album, and took on an “Alice In Wonderland” theme while outlining her real life journey to stardom.
“I’m wide awake. I was in the dark, I was falling hard with an open heart. How did I read the stars so wrong. I was dreaming for so long. I wish I knew then what I know now. I wouldn’t dive in, I wouldn’t bow down,” she sang in the new fantasy meets reality video.
In the video, Perry was seen sitting in her dressing room about to perform when she glanced in the mirror and sparked a rewind. Perry’s imagination ran wild as she was seen running through a fantasy world, figuring out how to get out of a labyrinth while meeting challenges along the way whether it be a man or the dark side of fame, such as relentless paparazzi.
Perry teased the new video by posting a photo from it on her Facebook page in recent days. The shot showed a purple-haired Perry with butterflies sitting on her vibrant locks.
The song was first released in May and gained a lot of buzz as many thought it related to her recent divorce from actor Russell Brand. With lyrics like, “Not losing any sleep, I picked up every piece and landed on my feet, need nothing to complete myself, I am born again, out of the lion’s den, I don’t have to pretend, the story’s over now, the end,” one thing is sure; she’s moving on. The song helps put to sleep rumors of a reconciliation that began swirling in earlier months.
Check it out.
