Carly Rae Jepsen finds herself asking police to “call me maybe,” as they investigate a computer hacking scandal involving the theft of the singer’s personal photographs.
Jepsen called in the police after becoming suspicious that her computer had been hacked. No photos or hacked materials have been leaked as of yet.
“The investigation is into the unauthorized use of a computer, theft of telecommunications and the criminal harassment of Ms. Jepsen,” a Vancouver police official told reporters during a press conference Wednesday.
Investigators have reportedly confirmed that an investigation was launched in the middle of March. But they did not confirm that the stolen photos are nude shots of the up and coming pop singer.
Despite this lack of clarity, some media outlets suspect a leak after a sex tape was posted Monday by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton featuring a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to Jepsen.
Jepsen responded to the accusations on her Twitter account that evening stating, “Crazy morning. Discovered that someone put up a sex tape claiming to be me. Ridiculous. Obviously not me.”
This isn’t the first time that this new star has had to face a sex scandal in the past month or so. At the beginning of July, pictures of a topless Destiny Benedict, another Jepsen look-alike, created a scandal as well.
Later on, Benedict took responsibility for the pictures and tweeted, “being mistaken for carly Rae… Anal maybe?”
Despite all of the craziness, Jepsen has been trying to ignore the hype and just have a good time with her new-found fame.
On Wednesday she tweeted, “Just went for a beautiful early morning walk here in Sweden. Working with Max later today. Feeling lucky. <3”
