UPDATE: FOUR IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER EXPLOSION

Seven people, including an 18-month old child were injured when a house exploded in Brentwood just before noon on Tuesday, leveling the entire house.

Three responding officers are also being hospitalized. The condition of the cops and those injured in the explosion is unclear. All were transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

Suffolk County police said the explosion occurred at 12 Prospect Drive in Brentwood. The first call came in to police at 11:55 a.m. It’s still unclear what caused the explosion. A National Grid spokeswoman said there’s no natural gas in the area.

“It just blew and dropped everything to the ground,” said David Grant, 56, a neighbor who helped cops and firefighters pull victims from the house. Grant said he heard a “boom” while doing yard work.

Frank Catalano, a contractor who has been repairing water damage at the house said he was scheduled to have a meeting at the house Tuesday afternoon.

“We were just lucky we weren’t there,” he said.

At least 10 fire departments responded to the scene.

Dozens of firefighters and cops were seen sorting through the wreckage.

The explosion caused some damage to surrounding homes on Prospect Drive.

Police are expected to hold a briefing around 2 p.m.
