The Expendables still packs a punch.

The sequel, equipped with a star-studded roster of macho men, took the top billing at the box office Friday, but it was unable to compete with its predecessor in 2010.

The film grossed just over $10 million Friday, beating out The Bourne Legacy, which fell to second in the box office standings with $5.3 million.

At No. 3 was ParaNorman with $4.5 million.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Expendables fell 21 percent compared to the first film’s premiere two years ago, which brought in $13 million.

The action-packed film premiered Friday with some hype because of the names behind the movie. It features big names like Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and John Travolta.

Other actors appearing in the film include Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke and Scott Adkins.

Box Office Mojo reported that the film may possibly reach $27 million over the weekend. The 2010 version earned $34 million, but only remained on top of the box office for one week.

The movie received decent reviews on the movie rating website Rotten Tomatoes. According to the site, 65 percent of critics gave the movie a positive review, while 87 percent of the audience gave the action adventure film a high rating.

Also falling in the top 5 Friday was Sparkle and The Campaign.
