Shop And Dine In Garden City

From time to time I have utilized this column to remind residents that we are fortunate to have a very viable business community in our village that offers great products, attentive customer service and enjoyable dining experiences.

With St. Valentine’s Day upcoming, I encourage you to make a reservation or simply drop in at one of our restaurants with your special someone to enjoy a special evening just minutes away from your home.

House Numbers

All residents are urged to post their house numbers on the front of their homes. A properly displayed house number can save precious time when our emergency services are responding to your home.

Winter Water Facts And Tips

I would like to take this opportunity to again remind you of some winter water facts and tips:

Outside water faucets have a valve inside which can be shut off during winter months. Purchasing an insulated hose faucet cover will also help protect the valve from freezing.

Frozen pipes can result in damage to your home, and repairs can be costly. If you have experienced freeze-up problems in the past, it is suggested that a faucet be allowed to flow with a steady drip that will help prevent the recurrence of a freeze-up.

To prevent pipes from freezing, you can insulate them and keep your thermostat set at no less than 60 degrees.

Board Of Trustees Meeting

The next regularly scheduled board of trustees meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. We also remind those residents who are grieving their taxes that this is also Grievance Night, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. I encourage all residents to attend board of trustees meetings so as to be thoroughly informed of village issues from a firsthand perspective.
