A 50-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in his hometown of Patchogue early Sunday morning.

Suffolk County police said Jose Mendoza was walking on Main Street when he was hit by a Chevrolet just east of Bay Avenue in Patchogue at 2:28 a.m.

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 23-year-old Matthew Weber of East Patchogue, was neither injured nor charged.

Fifth Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 631-854-8552.
