One of two teenagers wanted for stabbing and wounding another in New Cassel over the weekend has been apprehended, Nassau County police said.
Kevin Vanegas, 17, of New Cassel, was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault.
Police said Vanegas stabbed the 18-year-old victim in the chest on Grand Street while his alleged accomplice stabbed the victim in the buttocks before they fled the scene late Friday night.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his injuries.
Special Investigative Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
Vanegas will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
