An Islip Terrace man died Wednesday morning when he lost control of the cement truck he was driving on Sunrise Highway in Bayport, Suffolk County police said.

John Gagliano, 57, was driving the 1990 Mack cement truck east on Sunrise Highway at 7:39 a.m., police said, when he lost control, struck the median and overturned.

Gagliano, who was ejected from the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, police said.

The truck, owned by Deer Park-based Giaquinto Masonry Inc., was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Detectives are investigating whether a mechanical malfunction may have caused the crash, police said. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
