I wish to take this opportunity to thank all our local residents and community organizations that assisted in this year’s community blood drive. Through everyone’s efforts we were able to collect 279 pints of whole blood on Friday June 28. This year’s drive and blood donations will go to benefit one of our local children, Owen Hogan. Owen’s illness requires numerous blood transfusions.
I wish to also thank the Wednesday’s Mothers Club for establishing a fund raising effort through the sale of delicious homemade baked goods at this year’s Community Blood Drive. It added to the success of the day in addition to raising funds for the Hogan family in their time of need.
It is during the summer months that the spare blood supply in the NY area is at its lowest levels. Prior to our Community Drive the spare blood supply in our area would only last another day and a half.
