The Summer Discovery Program at East Woods had another great season. From the huge famous (and shriek-inducing) slip-n-slide to the challenging archery classes, the activities were a blast. This year the camp introduced a few new programs, including weekly karate workshops with Sensei Bill from Kicks Karate, dance classes from Ovations Dance Academy, and tennis lessons. The popular and successful Discovery swim program continued to teach beginner through expert swimmers. The Junior Counselor program for 13- to 15-year-olds offered that special combination of camper and counselor roles. Whether in their movie-making class or helping the younger campers with arts and crafts, these Junior Counselors never stopped smiling.
The summer was nicely rounded out by the first-ever Summer Discovery Spirit Week, and everyone – campers and counselors – definitely showed their East Woods Discovery spirit.
East Woods School is an independent, co-educational pre-nursery through eighth grade school, including a full-day kindergarten program, on 46 acres in Oyster Bay.
