Quantcast

From The Desk Of Mayor Paul Ehrbar

It keeping with tradition, the Williston Park Little League will again be hosting a 9/11 observance at Kelleher Field at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Former Deputy Mayor Bill Darmstadt has organized members of the WP Little League in order to hold this solemn ceremony. On behalf of the Village Board I ask all to come down to Keller Field to honor both those who passed away on that fateful day in 2001 and their families, who continue to feel the impact of this tragedy each and every day.

On Monday , Labor day, I went to the Roger Fay Williston Park Pool for the “closing ceremonies” . The pool season was quite successful as much of the summer was hot and humid. Thanks go out to pool Manager Keith Bosch, who did an excellent job in his inaugural season at the pool and the entire pool staff for their combined efforts to provide an exceptional experience for members and visitors alike. Thanks go out to our valued pool members for their contribution to the great season. A number of improvements at this fantastic facility added to the country club atmosphere  throughout the summer months. Of course thanks to the Village staff,  both at Village Hall and Highway crew who also contributed to the successful season

School is in session for the 2013-14 school year. Good luck to students and I wish them well for this upcoming academic year. As always, it is important for drivers to be alert and aware. Caution, coupled with safe driving habits will benefit all throughout the Village especially the young as they head off to school. I continue to stress the need for safe, cautious driving, yet cars are regularly  observed throughout the Village violating various driving regulations. Please ask your family, friends and neighbors observe the appropriate traffic regulations and for them to spread the word that safe driving is atop priority for all.

The next stage of road work is beginning throughout the Village. Due to budget constraints, the project is limited to the streets that our engineers have determined to be the ones in the worst shape.  The work will cause some disruptions in the areas where the paving is to take place. I ask all those impacted by the road work to be patient and understanding. When completed, the outcome will surely be more rewarding than the limited temporary disruptions.  I will continue to report on the progress as the construction moves forward.
