Roosevelt Woman Awakens to Burglar in Bedroom

A woman was awakened by a burglar who tried to use his hand to muffle her mouth in the bedroom of her Roosevelt home early Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.

The 50-year-old victim was sleeping at her Conlon Road home when she woke up to find the suspect in her room, the burglar attempted to cover her mouth and the victim’s 23-year-old son also woke up shortly after 3 a.m., police said.

The burglar fled empty handed through the rear door and was last seen heading southbound on Conlon Road.

The victim was treated for a minor injury at a local hospital.

The suspect was described as 6-foot-tall black man, 180 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
