Flu Shots
Assemblyman Tom McKevitt will host a flu shot program along with the East Meadow Public Library and the Nassau University Medical Center on Nov. 1. The event will be held at the East Meadow Public Library with no out-of-pocket cost to residents. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be made by calling Assemblyman McKevitt’s district office.

Sister Act will take you on a musical journey through history of popular music. Watch as Andrea and Celsete perform fully costumed in this multimedia show. Imagine Barbra Streisand, The Supremes, Janis Joplin and Madonna singing together, at the Wantagh Public Library, at 3285 Park Avenue on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Call the reference desk at 516-221-1200 to register.
Harvest Dinner
The Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church located at 1845 Wantagh Ave., will be hosting their annual Harvest Dinner on Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. Roast turkey with gravy will be served along with all of the trimmings. Seating capacity is limited, so please make your reservations early. Tickets on sale now. For reservations, call 516-785-1829, on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults $12 each, children ages 6 thru 12, $8 each. Children, ages five and under are free. The dinner will be held in the Parish Hall (the white building next to the church). There is plenty of free parking in the municipal parking lot behind the church.

Veterans’ Parade
On Nov. 3 Nassau County will honor Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in Levittown with a county-wide parade, hosted by the American Legion Post 1711.

Free Alzheimer’s Seminar
Senator Hannon’s 2013 Alzheimer’s Seminar will take place on Nov. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Bethpage Public Library (47 Powell Avenue, Bethpage). Hannon’s other guest speaker will be Tracey Kuczinski, who has been in the field of geriatrics for over 15 years, first as an Occupational Therapy Assistant working with seniors to achieve their rehabilitative goals, then as a Patient Advocate assisting seniors in their time of crisis while in hospitals and rehab settings. Topics will include: the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, what part of memory loss is age related and what memory loss you should be worried about, who you should see if you suspect someone is suffering from Alzheimer’s, medications that can help, and what can be done to lower the risk of Alzheimer’s. Show and Tell
The Society invites members and the public to bring in a family heirloom or conversation piece of historic significance to share with the audience. Established in 1988, the Levittown Historical Society is a nonprofit educational institution of volunteers dedicated to preserving the legacy of William J. Levitt, the world-famous suburban town he and his family built for homecoming GIs, and the rural communities that preceded it. To that end, the society maintains an open-to-the-public museum at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, hosts educational forums, and participates in community events.
