Intramural Soccer Stats

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Intramural Soccer Club recently played its first tournament in more than eight years. According to the team coaches, the kids represented the club well.

“We played hard in a tough bracket,” says David  Martin. “The kids learned a lot and improved as the day went along. Even though we lost all three games, both the players and parents had a great time.”

Chris Dean coached the team along with Martin. They said they are very proud of all of the players, and Matthew Duras, the youngest player, particularly shined as the team’s goalie.

This is the first year intramurals played on the turf field at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. Coach Martin describes the facility as “amazing” and “the perfect pitch for children to learn the game of soccer.” He says the parents love the location, and the weather this fall made soccer on Saturdays a perfect place to gather.

The OBEN Soccer Club has 17 travel soccer teams across two leagues comprised of 261 players. They have four age groups – Pre-K to second grade – in intramurals, with 118 kids registered this season. For more information visit www.obensoccer.org or call 516-382-5615.
