Suffolk County police homicide detectives are investigating a possible gang-related shooting outside a Deer Park bar early Thursday morning that killed one man and seriously injured another.

Police said three men inside a white Cadillac pulled into the parking lot of Night Owl Lounge on Long Island Avenue at 2:22 a.m. when two men standing with a group of people outside started firing shots at the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital with a fatal gunshot wound, police said. The second victim was in serious condition after a bullet hit him in the chest. The third person inside the car was not injured, police said.

Officers responded after a 911 caller reported hearing gun shots coming from the bar, a police spokeswoman said.

Police arrived and found a car with bullet holes and two shooting victims inside.

Police did not immediately identify the victims.

Detectives are exploring the possibility that the shooting is gang related, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
