The community of Manhasset has suffered a loss with the death of Donna Kazanjian, a beloved Children’s Librarian at the Manhasset Public Library. Mrs. Kazanjian has battled ALS over the past several years.
Anyone who visited the Manhasset Public Library Children’s Room over the past ten years was treated to a warm welcome and an infectious smile courtesy of an exemplary Mrs. Kazanjian, or Mrs. K as she was known to the many children and parents she served.
Mrs. Kazanjian brought joy and enthusiasm to her job as Children’s Librarian, and whether she was conducting storytimes or helping parents find a book, she conveyed a love of reading and learning to them. She counseled many parents over the years about teaching their children to read and encouraged a lifelong pursuit of learning.
Previous to her employment at the Manhasset Public Library, Ms. Kazanjian worked at St. Mary’s Elementary School in the school library. Working with children and their parents was a joy to her and she often stated that she loved her job at Manhasset Public Library.
Come see the lovely inscription Mrs. Kazanjian has on the Family Giving Tree outside the Children’s room thanks to a generous donation from the Friends of the Library and the Manhasset Library staff. The Kazanjian family requests donations in her memory be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O.B. 78960, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8960. Telephone 1-888-435-7632 or go to mda.org.
